'A Shame That My Tragedy My Masterpiece' – Original Hand-Painted Skateboard Art
'A SHAME THAT MY TRAGEDY MY MASTERPIECE'
Barcelona, Spain
One-of-a-kind hand-painted artwork created on a reclaimed vintage skateboard deck.
This piece is a raw and visceral exploration of a period of profound personal transformation. Painted in 2018-19, during a period living between Guatemala and México. It documents a journey through heartbreak, addiction, and self-destruction, culminating in a symbolic rebirth. The artwork captures the dark underbelly of that process—the anger, the stress, the brushes with death—as much as it does the light of a new beginning.
The front of the deck is a stark, monochromatic study in black acrylic and ink, utilizing the natural wood grain as its canvas. It features the iconic hands of the Spanish trap group PXXR GANG receiving money and embodying a spirit of defiant poverty, representing music influences at the time. This side is populated with potent symbols of that era: fantasy illustrations, a hovering grim reaper, a tombstone, a razor, a pyramid (the all-seeing eye), lucky dice, and classic traditional tattoo imagery. A pair of praying hands flipping the bird, beer cans, and spiderwebs complete this side’s narrative of defiance and decay.
The reverse side is an explosion of color and geometry, representing the path toward a better existence. Vibrant acrylic gradients, geometric shapes, and a rose symbolize growth and hope, anchored by the iconic Wu-Tang Clan 'W', representing a guiding philosophy.
This is not just a skateboard; it's a statement, a confession, and a testament to survival.
Hand-painted with Molotow, Montana and ink markers on a reclaimed skateboard deck. Finished with MTN Pro Acrylic Varnish to preserve and protect the artwork, ensuring its durability as a collectible piece of wall art.
